Black Bean Beef stir fry
In the spirit of continuing trying different cultures of food my lovely boyfriend gave me the idea of a black bean stir fry! now I have never had a black bean sauce so to say the least I wasn't 100% sure about this but it did not disappoint!
Considering I have never heard of black bean sauce, I did quite a bit of reading online to figure out what the best way to make this dish would be. After reading a few recipes I opted to not follow any of the recipes to a tee. instead I put my own small twists into this dish.
In nearly every recipe I had read they advise to cook your beef and vegetables in a Wok, however we are still out at the lake enjoying the last little bit of summer and my Wok is at home, I used my electric frying pan and this worked just as great!
INGREDIENTS
- 3 bell peppers, sliced
- 1/2 tomato, chopped
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, cut to preference
- 3/4LB stewing beef, cut in 1 inch chunks
- 1.5TBSP soy sauce
- 2TBSP black bean garlic sauce
- 1/4TSP pepper
- 1TSP sugar
- 1TBSP butter or oil for cooking
DIRECTIONS
1) after you have all your vegetables cut, add all of them to your pan or wok with your oil or butter, fry over medium heat for about 5 minutes. by this time your onions should be quite fragrant.
2) the stewing beef I had bought were fairly large chunks so I cut them into smaller bite size pieces before adding them into the pan with the vegetables. once your meat is added turn the heat up to medium/high and mix in soy sauce, black bean garlic sauce, pepper, and sugar. cover and let simmer for 10-15 mins stirring well every 3-5 minutes.
3)serve over rice!
